I have extensive experience in NHS Community Children's Service working in a multidisciplinary team. I have worked with preschool aged children and school years up to teenagers and young adults. I have previously worked in a SEN secondary school, primarily for boys with ASD / ADHD and the associated difficulties that goes along with those experiences. I have worked as an associate independent therapist with two different services, both involved school working as well as individual clients.
Welcome to Jaybee Children's Occupational Therapy Services. I specialise in providing tailored therapy solutions to families and schools to help children and young people overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
Services offered:
Support to families. I work collaboratively to gather all the information to inform and carry out the most appropriate forms of assessment, all the while keeping the child at the centre. I provide a comprehensive report with recommendations and, if applicable, to be used to provide clinical evidence to support a family's application/appeal for education and health care plans (EHCP). If applicable, I can offer blocks of therapy after collaboratively creating meaningful goals to work towards.
Support for schools. I work in collaboration with school SEN teams to provide new assessments (for example, following an educational psychologists' recommendation for OT assessment), or to carry out review of current provision for a child, and to develop new OT goals and targets. Daily packages available.
How occupational therapy can help
I carry out a holistic assessment, gathering all the relevant information to inform the next steps, i.e. which assessment to use. This can be clinical observations alone, or more formal standardised assessments; for example, exploring fine and gross motor co-ordination skills, visual perceptual tests, handwriting assessments, or sensory processing screening tools. The results of these assessments will be compiled into a comprehensive report with recommendations made. The parent / carer can share this report with the school or local authority if wished.
I can also support with 1:1 therapy blocks to support all of the above (if recommended) at an additional cost. However, I will always include recommendations that can be carried out by parents / carers and supporting school staff (if applicable).
Customised programs are devised when completing a therapy block to meet the specific needs and measurable goals of each child, ensuring targeted and effective interventions.
I work closely with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to create a holistic support system for the child's development. I have the view that parents are the experts in their own children so I strive to support the parent / caregiver by demonstrating strategies and giving advice to support them.
I am passionate about opening up the availability for accessing private occupational therapy. I have subsidised fees to keep them as low as possible.
